Internship Programs
The Office of Historic Resources (OHR) is pleased to offer two types of internships to students and recent graduates who have a strong interest in historic preservation and urban planning:
Year-Round Volunteer Internship Program
The Office of Historic Resources has an active, year-round volunteer internship program for undergraduate and graduate students who wish to explore the fields of historic preservation, urban planning, architecture, and/or local history. Interns will have the opportunity to become an integral part of the SurveyLA project, receive exposure to all aspects of a multi-faceted municipal historic preservation program, and provide overall support to the preservation office of the nation's second-largest city.
Qualifications
Educational background in architecture, historic preservation, architectural history, urban planning, history, or other related discipline. Enthusiasm and interest in learning about historic preservation and urban planning. Strong written and oral communications skills. Recent college graduates and those considering graduate degrees in historic preservation or related fields are welcome to apply.

Getty Multicultural Undergraduate Summer Internship
The City of Los Angeles Office of Historic Resources (OHR) has received a Getty Foundation Multicultural Undergraduate Internship Grant and is seeking a talented and energetic summer intern who wants to gain valuable work experience in historic preservation and urban planning. This internship opportunity is intended for current undergraduate students who are members of groups underrepresented in professions relating to museums and the visual arts - individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American and Pacific Islander descent.
Work Schedule and Payment
The intern will receive a gross salary of $3,500 for a full-time position covering a consecutive 10-week period that will begin no sooner than June 2, 2008 and end no later than August 22, 2008. This position is located within Los Angeles City Hall, Office of Historic Resources, 200 N. Spring Street, Room 620, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
