Volunteer With SurveyLA

The Office of Historic Resources (OHR) is seeking volunteers to help with the citywide historic resources survey project. We have numerous opportunities available for volunteers with a variety of skills and interests. Our current needs include: 

Speakers Bureau - Join the Speakers Bureau to help spread the word about SurveyLA throughout Los Angeles.

Photography - Help provide visual interest to enhance field survey data and narrative histories by using your digital photography skills.

Field Survey Assistant - Assist professional survey teams as they conduct the field surveys citywide. We are particularly interested in volunteers who have specific subject matter expertise or extensive knowledge of community histories and students who have coursework in historic preservation or related fields.  

Research - Use your research skills and uncover information to help professional survey teams identify and assess significant properties and historic districts.   

Data Entry - Help consolidate information on historic properties and neighborhoods gathered from varying sources by assisting with data entry into the SurveyLA database.  

Neighborhood Coordinator - Head up a neighborhood effort to gather information and organize events on the history of your community to supplement and contribute to the field survey data.  

Volunteer Coordinator - Contribute your organizational skills to the OHR by helping coordinate the SurveyLA volunteer and community outreach program. 

General - Assist the OHR with office work that may include answering telephone calls and emails related to SurveyLA, as well as regularly updating the SurveyLA web site.
